For general information about filling out forms in Marty 5, see this page.

Use the Button on the Main Parts Page

To create a new part in the database, first navigate to the main Parts page by clicking on the Parts link in the main navigation bar. Above the main list of parts is a button labelled "Add New Part". Click this button to go to the part creation page.

Supplier Not Yet in the Database?

When you create a part, you are required to specify the supplier for that part. There may be a situation in which you want to add a part whose supplier is not yet represented in Marty. If this is the case, you can click the "Add Supplier" button next to the Supplier field. This will take you to the contact creation form. If and when you successfully create the supplier you will be returned back to the part creation form to actually create the part, and you should be able to select your newly created supplier.

Standard and Equipment Tabs

You'll notice that there is a tabbed section on the right-hand side of the page, with a tab for standard (inventory) part information and a tab for equipment part information. If you are creating a standard part, fill out the standard tab, and likewise if your part is to be equipment, fill out the equipment tab. Some fields in these tabs may have asterisks, but they are only required if you fill out the form in the tab. If you are not creating a standard or equipment part, you do not need to fill out these tab forms.

Equipment rules

If you are creating an Equipment part, and that part periodically needs to be calibrated or given preventative maintenance, you must add the rules for these operations at the time you create the equipment. Within the Equipment tab, you can click on the buttons to add Calibration Rules and/or Preventative Maintenance Rules. If there is no "most recent operation", use today's date in that field.

Part Numbering

Use the guidelines outlined in Operation Instruction 7.1 to determine the part number. If the new part does not fit into any of the existing criteria, see the Production Manager, the Purchasing and Inventory Coordinator, or the Project Leader who requested the part number for further assistance. The part name can be found on the drawing for mechanical parts, on the website, or in the catalog for purchased parts. It can also be obtained from the Production Manager or Project Leader for assemblies built by ISS.
